Agoraphobia Help

Agoraphobia Help

Agoraphobia help is actually much more accessible than you possibly think. Agoraphobia help and support commonly takes the form of medication or psychotherapy but both are inappropriate, long winded and untargeted in their approach. Why? Because anxiety, which causes agoraphobia isn’t an illness; and because it isn’t an illness, it cannot be treated medicinally… what about agoraphobia could a medicine ever correct? A chemical imbalance? No. Pain? No. Physical damage of any kind? No.

Agoraphobia Medication – Is there one?

For an anxiety medication which helps agoraphobia, to be successful, it would need to locate, single out and selectively destroy or render obsolete, specific neural pathways amongst millions in the anxiety control centre alone; not only is this currently not available, but it is very doubtful indeed that any treatment with ever be developed that can even identify those specific neural pathways, let alone treat them in isolation without damaging surrounding brain tissue! Thewhole notion of medicinal agoraphobia help and treatments is absurd!

Psychotherapy for Agoraphobia – Can it work?

What about psychotherapy. How can talking about anxiety ever undo the changes in the subconscious mind which are caused by behaviour? It can’t!

You see, because agoraphobia is caused by underlying, high anxiety and is, in fact, a symptom of an underlying anxiety disorder, agoraphobia help must be delivered in a very specific way if it to have a lasting, targeted, curative effect.

The part of the brain responsible for the anxiety response is ‘programmed’ only through nerve signals carrying data about your environment. Anxiety and the emotion of fear are unique in as much as they are totally adaptable; they have to be in order to react to your ever changing environment in order to protect you against any potential threats within that environment. So, when you move from somewhere safe to somewhere containing a potential threat, your anxiety control center in the brain adjusts your anxiety level to suit.

Agoraphobia develops during high anxiety as part of that self defence mechanism. You see, agoraphobia is part of your ‘safety seeking’ mechanism attempting to find safety when threat is present.
